Call for Abstracts

All participants are invited to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentation which will be made during WSC2018 from 11 to 14 June. Oral presentations will be 12 minutes each with 3 minutes of Q&A, while poster presentations will be conducted during the evening poster session. We strongly encourage abstracts of original research that fall into one of the following session themes:

  • Community engagement, outreach and public awareness
  • Seagrass biology and ecology
  • Faunal Interactions
  • Ecosystem services
  • Resilience, restoration and management

Instructions for Authors:
Abstracts must be submitted through this website with the prescribed template. All abstracts should be camera-ready as they may be published without further editing. Due to limited presentation slots, a single participant will be limited to a maximum of one poster and one oral presentation. The abstract submission deadline is 30 November 2017 31 January 2018 14th February 2018 (final extended deadline).

Student Grant Application

On behalf of the World Seagrass Association and the ISBW13 Organising Committee, a limited number of student grants will be made available to help students attend the ISBW13 in 2018. Grants will cover registration fees for both WSC2018 and ISBW13. You may find out more about our student grants here.

The application is open to all students as well as early-career researchers (defined as having graduated, or obtained a masters or PhD degree on or after 11 June 2017). Priority will be given to students from developing countries, but students from other countries may also apply. Students may apply irrespective of whether they have already paid their registration fees or not.

In order to apply for a student grant please include the following documents with your abstract submission by 14 February 2018:

  1. A personal statement detailing why it is important for you to attend ISBW13, why you need a student grant and what other funding you already have to contribute to your participation in the meeting.
  2. Proof of your studentship or graduation within the past year
  3. One reference letter from a supervisor, mentor or collaborator

All presenting authors must register with full payment for the conference upon acceptance of their abstract(s). Authors will be notified of the status of their submission by the mid March 2018. Details of oral presentation and poster format will be provided for successful submissions. Authors who wish to withdraw their submission papers are to notify the secretariat in writing.
